What all those things in your profile mean

Clicking on "Profile" at the top of any page opens your profile. You can modify most items freely. In the description below the items in black are what you see in your profile, the items in blue are explanations. To have this page and your profile open at the same time, right click on profile, and click on "Open in New Window"


Username: *
You can not change your user name. Contact a moderator if you need this changed.
E-mail address: *
This is the e-mail address you are subscribed with. If you allow blind e-mailing (see below) this is the address that will be used.
Current password: *
You must confirm your current password if you wish to change it or alter your e-mail address
New password: *
You only need to supply a password if you want to change it
Confirm password: *
You only need to confirm your password if you changed it above

Profile Information
This information will be publicly viewable Don't enter it unless you want it to be seen!
The next 4 are IM systems.

Website: Enter your home page (assuming it's suitable for the list members) :wink:

This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 255 character limit

If this is yes, other users can send you "blind e-mail" - meaing it goes to your e-mail, but they don't know your address.
Hide your online status: Yes No
When you log into the board, do you want others to be able to tell you are here?
Always notify me of replies:
Sends an e-mail when someone replies to a topic you have posted in. This can be changed whenever you post. Yes No
If you select yes, you will receive an e-mail notification for new posts in every topic you have posted to. You generally do NOT want to do this, and you can track selected topics.
Notify on new Private Message: Yes No This is an e-mail notification
Pop up window on new Private Message:
Some templates may open a new window to inform you when new private messages arrive. Yes No
This does work on TMB. If you select yes, you will be notified of any new PM while you are logged on.
Always attach my signature: Yes No
If yes you can turn it off for any post, if no you can turn it on for any post.
Always allow BBCode: Yes No
If you never want to use BBCode, turn this off. You can override either setting for any post you make
Always allow HTML: Yes No
We don't use it, so it does not matter.
Always enable Smilies: Yes No
Enable or disable smilies (emoticons). You can override for any post you make.
Board Language: English
Only one choice - sorry.
Board Style: subSilver
subSilver is the default, while largeFont is the same, with much bigger fonts.
Timezone: Your time zone (puts post times into your time). See the GMT web site to determine your time zone.
Date format:
The syntax used is identical to the PHP date() function.
The default will look like "Thu Mar 11, 2004 12:11 pm" . Follow the link to learn more if you want to make changes.


Avatar control panel
Detailed instructions on avatars can be found here.
Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 100 pixels, the height no greater than 100 pixels, and the file size no more than 10 KB.
Current Image Shows your avatar, if you have one.

Delete Image Removes avatar (can NOT be undone).
Upload Avatar from your machine:
Upload Avatar from a URL:
Enter the URL of the location containing the Avatar image, it will be copied to this site.

Contact the moderator (you can hit the "report this post" button, on the left side of the screen at the bottom of any post) and list your current name and what you would like it changed to. They'll take it from there.
