One Time Donations Gladly Accepted!

Postby Paul B » Wed Aug 31, 2005 7:58 pm

We are donation supported. We are also 510(c)(3), so donations are deductible if you pay US income tax. One time or recurring, it's all a blessing, and all very much appreciated.

You can use PayPal to send a donation with a credit, debit or check card without setting up a PayPal account.

The Marriage Bed is a 501(c)(3) corporation, so all US donations are tax deductible. Give on-line by credit card, PayPal or Amazon Honor Pay. Automatic monthly payments available via PayPal.

This is probably a stupid question, but what are tmb's expenses?

Thanks,

Scott

Thought I would bump this since Paul and Lori were moving while you asked it.

TMB has domain and server expenses for starters. I know this site gets a LOT hits and that costs a LOT of bandwidth. Plus there is quite a large membership base here, that's a lot of disc space which can run the hosting fee's up. Then there are two email lists which last I read reached over 2,000 (!) people! There is a separate Generous Wives forum which incurrs it's own domain and hosting fees and the Generous Husband site which has some fees.

Ministry costs money.

Thanks to djnrobin for bumping this.

We do eat up a very large amount of bandwidth (over 120 Gig a month now) and bandwidth costs money.

Before someone kindly offers me bandwidth at a great price, we need root access to the server, and we need 24/7 maintenance (meaning if it goes down when I'm not looking, someone will get it back up and running). We've worked hard to get a great system at a very competitive price.

Beyond that there are some other costs associated with any ministry - banking costs, legal fees, filing fees and so on.

Frankly the TMB is less than we'd like it to be because of a lack of funds. We'd like to have boards for other groups (singles, youth, those going through a divorce). We'd like to update and add to what's on the rest of the site. We'd also like to be able to actually pay a primary moderator, with the wonderful volunteers helping out rather than having to pull the full load (lack of good mods is one reason we can't start new boards).

And yes, Lori and I do pull a small housing allowance, when all the other bills have been paid. In reality we've not yet been "repaid" for the money we put into TMB before it was non-profit and accepting donations. Not that we are in it for the money - the goal was to free us up enough to do more in the way of articles - in the past it did this, but now the amount is far to small to keep us from needing full time jobs. I've got some folks telling me that needs to change, not sure where that will go.

We do greatly appreciate all who give to TMB, both the end of year one off gifts and the folks who give monthly. We could no longer afford to carry the cost ourselves, and we are happy that there are those who see what is being done here as worth supporting.

Is your donation form still accurate? It has an Austin, TX address.

I'd like to send something but don't want it lost.

Oops!

Thanks, it's right now. PayPal was updated, but the mailing address on the page was not.

I'd really like to encourage (& challenge!) everyone here to consider contributing regularly to TMB (& no, I don't get any of it, and I'm not being paid to say this! ).

If each person who benefits from this forum would give even $1.00 per month (which can be set up to be deducted monthly, automatically), it would go a long way to allowing Paul and Lori to do all they need to do to keep this website and ministry running properly, & even to expand it.

They give of their time (& it takes a LOT of time!) daily, and I'd love to see them able to do all that they want to do here... updates, more bandwidth, more moderation, more forums, more articles ... who knows what God wants to do with this ministry to reach out to even more hurting marriages!

Man, if each one who regularly participates here would give all of $5.00 per month - Paul and Lori could quit their day jobs and devote themselves to this full-time! I just don't see that as a stretch!

I don't know, to me, $5.00 is so little to pay for what I receive here. I've been happy to give regularly since soon after I first discovered it... this place is a HUGE blessing in my life and in my marriage... and I believe it's biblical to give back into where I'm blessed.

One thing I would like to ask, and it is not the only reason I'd donate, do you have a canadian agency by which a canuck can get a tax receipt?

Sorry we do not - but I do have a Canadian flag two feet from my key board, does that count?
