How many men have a morning erection regulary?

Postby cev » Wed Jan 20, 2010 6:20 pm

I read on one website where loss of a morning erection was a sign of low testosterone. DH says that most men do not wake up with a morning erection. I would like to see what say ya'll.

I'm 46 and still have them. (Can I just add that they are the most annoying and inconvenient things in the world? Ugh.)

I no longer get those middle-of-the-day erections that I had during my younger days, but the morning version is still around, pretty much every day.

I am 69 and have them most of the time I think. Not always rock-hard however.

Every morning without fail and multiple times at night at 32. Last year my Dr. asked if I woke up with an erection every morning as his first test to make sure my testosterone levels were okay.

I'm 47. I generally get them only when I wake up without an alarm clock. But most mornings I get up with an alarm clock, so they are kind of hit or miss.

To answer your question, they're not really "morning erections." They're nocturnal erections. The body cycles through them several times a night. In order to have one when you wake, you must awake from the stage of sleep which includes the erection. That's why the alarm makes a difference. It rousts me from sleep at any of the stages, not just the one with erections. But most men have erections in REM sleep, and they naturally awaken from that stage, with the erection still intact.

DH is 40 and seems to at least have a partial erection throughout the night. By the time he gets up at 3AM it's rock hard, but of course there's no time for action.

DH is 34/35 and it's probably happened once a week, probably less. He says it's been like that since his early 20s.

(We have had his T levels tested, along with many other tests, and it all came back well and truly normal).

I still have them (I'm 37), but not as frequently as I did in my twenties and teens, I think.

I had them regualarly until 10 years ago, I'm now 60. At that time, along with several other health concerns, I started having ED problems. Now the only time I have any noctural erections is for a day or so after taking ED meds.

I agree with Mr. Rkt that I can only tell if I have a morning erection depending on when and how I wake. In my 20s and 30s this morning wood would persist longer. Now in my 50s they tend to subside quicker, but are still there. Occasionally I get the middle of the night woodies after about 5 hours sleep. These tend to be strong and persistent, and obnoxious because I simply cannot get back to sleep. The only way to fall asleep again is to have sex first.

I'm 67 yo and dealing with BPH prostate probs. On finasteride and Flomax now. They have ruined my morning erections plus all other erections. Once I'm done with the prostate treatment issues, I expect them to return as usual. Morning erections, as well as nocturnal erections, are necessary for the overall health of penile tissues. Otherwise, it is a "use it or lose it" situation. :(

I am 50+ and have them almost every night - sometimes multiple times depending upon how many times I wake up. My DW and I are wondering about low T as my libido has slipped in recent years (and hers has taken off  ). So, if morning erections are a sign a good or acceptable T levels, then there must be something else going on. In the mean time, I will be getting blood work done next week to test for my T level, so I'll know more then.

I have 80% some mornings and 90 % erections on others. Some days NOTHING. This is in my view the result of T therapy and using 5mg cialis every day. Prior to using T. I never had any kind of erection in the morning. I am now 66 years old.
